‘Bobrisky only sought assistance to pay for VIP section in prison’ – Falz tells VeryDarkMan

Folarin Falana, also known as Falz, a well-known Nigerian rapper and activist, has claimed that Bobrisky approached him solely for financial assistance while in prison.

Bobrisky was sentenced to three months in jail after admitting to naira mutilation, following an arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. He was released on August 5th, 2024.

On September 24th, 2024, a popular self-proclaimed activist and social critic, Martins Otse, who goes by the name VeryDarkMan, leaked an alleged voice recording of Bobrisky.

In the controversial audio, Bobrisky asserted that a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and Falz’s son helped him persuade the EFCC to drop money laundering charges against him during his time in prison.
In response to the ensuing outrage, Falz, through his legal representatives at Falana & Falana’s Chambers, refuted the claim that he engaged in conversation with Bobrisky while the latter was in prison.
He clarified that the cross-dresser only reached out to him to request financial assistance of N3 million to pay certain officials in order to be allowed to stay in the VIP section of the Correctional Centre.

In a widely circulated letter on social media, Falz also accused VeryDarkMan of making unfounded allegations against him without first contacting him.
