The Police Command in Ebonyi has verified that the blast leading to the deaths of Mr. and Mrs. George Onuabuchi in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, was caused by a gas cylinder and not an inverter battery. Joshua Ukandu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police and the spokesperson for the Command, shared with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday that the incident occurred on August 25. Ukandu revealed that a preliminary investigation indicated that the couple perished due to a gas explosion.
The occurrence took place in the Waterworks area of Abakaliki on August 25. Residents living nearby alerted the authorities, who then visited the scene, but the couple had already been taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, both have now passed away.
