Veteran Nollywood actor and producer, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has raised concerns regarding teen actress, Angel Unigwe, and her mother for an alleged breach of contract. The filmmaker alleged that Unigwe violated a filming contract with his production firm when her mother withdrew her from the project before the agreed-upon duration had expired. Kanayo called upon Nollywood producers to consider abstaining from working with the teen actress and warned of potential disruption to any shoots involving her.
In a video message shared on his Instagram page, Kanayo addressed the issue, stating, “A specific individual has been causing difficulties for producers, which is regrettable as it has impacted me as well.
Unfortunately, this involves Angel Unigwe’s mother. Every producer enters into a contract, whether written or oral. However, it has become evident that issues arise once this individual receives payment. I have received reports of similar incidents from others prior to experiencing it myself.
“Last night, the contract had not expired when she retrieved her daughter at 9 pm, which was before the stipulated time. This serves as a call to all producers. I implore you, in the interest of professionalism and solidarity, effective June 21, 2024, any production engaging Angel Unigwe’s services will be closely monitored by me to ensure filming does not proceed. You understand the impact of an artist walking out of a production. There were no prior issues, and we had a positive working relationship with Angel. However, her mother has been intimidating numerous producers. Therefore, I will be overseeing all filming schedules to prevent any disruptions wherever Angel Unigwe is involved.”
Angel Unigwe has not responded to these allegations as of now. mother.
