Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference keynote has concluded, unveiling a multitude of new features and updates across its devices and operating systems. The major announcements include the introduction of Apple Intelligence, an AI system that will be integrated into the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Apple Intelligence aims to enhance native apps with features such as image generation and text summarization, prioritizing security through on-device processing or Apple’s private cloud server. This system will be available for free on the iPhone 15 Pro, as well as on iPads and Macs with M1 chips and later.
Siri is set to receive a significant AI upgrade, featuring deeper integration into the iPhone and enhanced capabilities to perform more complex tasks, leveraging large language models for better understanding of user queries and handling follow-up requests.
The iOS 18 update will introduce AI-driven features across various apps, including the Mail app’s email summaries and response generation, Genmoji’s custom emoji creation, AI-powered image generation in the Image Playground, natural language search and background object removal in the Photos app, as well as AI-driven transcriptions and summaries in the Notes and Phone apps.
iOS 18 will also bring enhanced customization options, allowing users to adjust the Control Center and freely place app icons on their homescreen. Additionally, users will be able to lock specific apps and a new Game Mode will be introduced to optimize gameplay.
RCS support will arrive with iOS 18, enhancing iMessage with features such as text scheduling and SMS messaging via satellite, along with new Tapback options and text formatting capabilities.
Apple TV Plus will introduce “inSights,” a feature offering detailed information and automatic subtitle display when a show is muted, while the new Passwords app will help manage login details across various devices.
iPadOS 18 will finally include a Calculator app after over a decade, along with the introduction of Math Notes and Smart Script capabilities.
The upcoming macOS update will allow users to mirror their iPhone on their Mac, while watchOS 11 and visionOS 2 will also introduce various new features and enhancements.
The next AirPods Pro update will include Siri Interactions and Voice Isolation to enhance user experience. Overall, Apple’s WWDC keynote showcased a range of innovations and updates, highlighting the integration of AI and enhancing user experience across its ecosystem.
